Happy Holidays - Wishing us all a better 2021!

12/26/2020

Dear Patients and Friends,

I hope this letter finds you well. Though it has been a difficult 2020, we at Eunson Dental are happy to report that we have persevered, successfully and safely caring for the more than 900 members of our patient family. This time for us has been one of extreme gratitude, recognizing how lucky we are to have the faith and trust of so many of you. It is amazing what three months of forced closure will do to help you recognize what brings you joy! For us, our joy is in our relationships with all of you.

For those who have visited the practice in the last six months, we thank you for your confidence. Your overwhelmingly positive feedback has kept our engines running! Though our days have never been more difficult, and we miss the handshakes and hugs, we also recognize the services that we are providing help our patients’ immune systems remain strong. Maintaining healthy habits is one of the best ways to combat disease during this challenging time, and we are thankful to be able to play a role.

Though our processes (and our apparel!) are different, the high quality of our care remains the same. For your safety, we will continue for the foreseeable future to exercise the following COVID safety protocols: performing digital surveys, phone and on-site screenings, minimizing patient-to-patient interaction by redirecting traffic flow in our space, and eliminating waiting room usage with strategic scheduling. In order to minimize airborne contaminants, we ask you to wear a mask and encourage you to bring to your appointment only items that are vital, e.g., keys, method of payment, and phones for scheduling. Though these safety measures do require extra time and effort, they help keep us and those in our care healthy. We appreciate your understanding, and we will continue to perfect our processes as we stay updated on the science of COVID-19.

Good news! Eunson Dental is pleased to introduce two new members of our team: Cindy McLaughlin and Dawn Wyzen. Both are great additions to Eunson Dental; their dental assistant know-how and extended education and training in additional dental procedures such as placing fillings, tooth polishing, and application of sealants and fluoride are invaluable.

Cindy was born and raised in Springfield, Pennsylvania, where she graduated from Springfield High School. She worked as an office manager and bartender for many years before returning to school to obtain her Expanded Functions Dental Assistant license. Cindy works side by side with Dr. Eunson, and she is committed to providing quality care to all our patients. She strives to make every patient feel comfortable and content while in the office.

Dawn is a graduate of the Dental Assistant, Radiology and Expanded Function Dental Assisting programs at Harcum College. She’s been working in the dental field for nearly 25 years. Dawn is passionate about helping patients feel comfortable during their appointments and improving their oral health.

You can read more about our  entire team by clicking here.

Alas, we say a fond farewell to Joann, my longtime chairside dental assistant. Every day Joann brought a great attitude, skills and kindness to care for our wonderful patients.  So often I would hear ‘You two work so well together.’  I fully credit that to Joann - she always anticipated what I would need next and had it ready to go.  She made it a priority to always do her best for our patients, our team and our practice.  Patients were well cared for both in the chair and with all the follow up that goes along with more complex dental visits.  After 10 years, Joann is retiring and looking forward to spending more time with family and friends. Both personally and professionally, we will all miss seeing Joann in the office!

As always, please feel free to reach out if you have questions about our current methods and practices. We recognize and respect everyone’s feelings regarding their personal safety and comfort in seeking care, and we hope we can be a resource for information and guidance. We trust that soon we will be able to see you all again without the threat of COVID’s wrath. Until then, be well and enjoy the changing seasons out your window!

Warmly,
Dr. Eunson and the entire team at Eunson Dental (Chris, Jess, Kelly, Vicky, Whitney, Cindy and Dawn)

August Update

8/4/2020

Dear Eunson Dental patients, families, and friends:

Happy Summer!  With the intense weather today I hope you are all safe!  I also hope this letter finds you and your family in good health.

I’m pleased to report that our office is open for routine, restorative, and urgent dental care! We started seeing patients for routine care again in mid-June. We’ve ramped up our schedule, and because we know most patients are eager to maintain their dental health, we have expanded our days and hours. It’s been great to see so many of you!

My team is informed, prepared, and looking forward to your return. Yes, we have implemented some changes in how we deliver our services; some of those are mandated by state and local agencies, others are modifications to our own procedures and practices designed to keep everyone as safe as possible. That’s one thing that has remained the same at Eunson Dental: our commitment to your safety.

For example, you will notice a different flow of patients through the office. Two changes have been implemented that promote better social distancing: (1) We have allocated more time between patient appointments  (2) We have implemented a “virtual waiting room” – with check-in via text from your car and waiting there until we call/text you to come in – rather than using our in-office waiting area.

Another change? Each of us has a new “uniform!” This space-age look – called personal protection equipment, or PPE – will further our efforts to protect both patients and staff from any transfer of harmful bacteria or viruses. Rest assured, this new uniform will not impede in any way the quality of the service you receive – we’re very accustomed to wearing it now!

Other modifications we’ve made:
  • You will be pre-screened before your appointment.
  • We ask that you park in the upper lot using the designated spots, and then text 610-558-1977 that you have arrived.
  • We ask that you wear a mask to the office and keep it on throughout your visit (except when we’re working, of course!)
  • Hand sanitizer is available throughout the office, and we will ask you to use it upon entering the office.
  • As noted earlier, appointments will be scheduled to allow for social distancing and thorough cleaning between patients. As a result, you may be offered fewer options than in the past for scheduling your appointment. Keep in mind, we are trying to accommodate as many patients as possible while practicing strict infection control.

Infection control always has been a top priority. To learn more about our infection control protocols and the enhancements that have been made to further improve office safety, please click here.

Unfortunately, the pandemic has been difficult for many people and businesses.  If you or someone you know is looking for an affordable alternative to dental insurance, please check out our Eunson Dental Savings Plan.  Preventive dental care is always less expensive in the long run than allowing small problems to become bigger ones. For more information on the dental savings plan please click here.

Finally, what a difference a year can make! Last year was a challenging one for us here at Eunson Dental, and this year is proving the same … just different types of challenges.

Milestones are important: They remind us of how far we’ve come, how hard we’ve worked, and how strong we are as a result. Recently, I marked one year since I had to share the news of my cancer with my daughter … and shortly after that, I shared it with all of you. I’m happy to report that my treatments were completed in February, and my doctors believe that I am now cancer free! I look forward to a long weekend relaxing at my parent’s lake house to celebrate my restored health.
I believe my yearlong journey – and that of my staff as they supported me and our practice – has given us all additional perspectives, tools, and skills to use to provide the best dental services possible in what is being called this “new normal” world.

We look forward to seeing you again, and we are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you – and every patient – safe in our practice. To make scheduling your next routine appointment easier, we have enabled our online scheduling system. Please click here to schedule your next appointment. Of course, you can always reach us by phone during the week at 610.558.1977 or by sending an email with your preferred dates and times to Smiles@EunsonDental.com.  We will try to accommodate your schedule but as you can imagine, there may be challenges as we are still trying to work through the backlog of not seeing patients for 3 months.

THANK YOU for being our patient! We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to welcoming you back as our patients, neighbors, and friends.

Sincerely,
Dr. Anne Eunson, and the entire Eunson Dental Team

Office Update

6/4/2020

Dear Eunson Dental Friends and Families:

Our community has been through a lot over the last few months.  My team and I have thought about you often.  We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health.  Finally yesterday the PA Department of Health authorized resuming routine dental care.  My team is educated, prepared, and looking forward to your return.  Over the next couple of weeks, we will be contacting anyone who has missed an appointment or is overdue.  When we contact you, please be sure to let us know if you have any issues that are of concern, so that we can schedule appropriately for your visit. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety.

Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it’s both safe and comfortable.  Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued.  In addition, our team also participated in many live infection control webinars over the last 3 months.  Pleasantly, we learned that we already had a higher than usual level of infection control and protection but we have still added more layers.

We have invested in quite a few office upgrades including additional air purification (one in every operator, common area, main HVAC system, etc.) improved water filtration, improved suction systems, barriers such as glass at the front desk and lots of PPE which is for the mutual benefit of you and our team.  We've even installed a washer and dryer to handle the increased number of isolation gowns.  Now we'll be taken care of them in house rather than adding all that extra volume to the landfill.

You'll also see some changes in the flow of patients through the office.  To reduce the number of patients in the office at the same time we will be allowing more time in between and also using a virtual waiting room rather than our in-office waiting area.   Other modifications include:
  • Our office will ask you some screening questions before your scheduling and again before your appointment.
  • We ask that you park in the upper lot using designated spots and then text 610.558.1977 that you have arrived.
  • We ask that you wear a mask to the office and continue to keep it on throughout your visit (except when we're working, of course!)
  • Hand sanitizer is available throughout the office and we will ask you to use it when you enter the office.
  • We will no longer be able to offer magazines, children’s toys, and so forth since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect.  Our dental operatories and administrative areas have been cleared of any clutter for the same reason.
  • Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you’re offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.

We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice.  Currently, our online scheduling system is disabled to allow us to prioritize those that are overdue.  Thank you for being our patient. We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbors, and friends.

Sincerely,
Dr. Anne Eunson and the entire Eunson Dental Team

COVID-19 Update

5/4/2020

Dear Eunson Dental Patients,

I reach out to you with the sincerest hope that you are healthy and spending quality time with
loved ones.  As you know, our dental practice is currently able to only see patients for
emergency dental care.  The governor’s “Stay at Home” order as well as recommendations from
the CDC and American Dental Association have directed us as an essential business to
continue to see patients but for emergency situations only. At this point we do not have any
confirmation of when we may be able to resume more urgent, restorative and elective dental
procedures. I suspect we will not begin to resume patient care until at least mid-June. As soon
as I have more guidance, I will share it with you.

Please know we are here for now and will be here for you once this is over.  While we are
limited to the type of care we can provide, please contact us with any dental concerns you have,
whether you feel it is an emergency or not. You can contact me by calling 610.558.1977 or
emailing Smiles@EunsonDental.com

Although we have not been able to work in the office together, our team has stayed in contact.
In addition, we have had zoom check ins with our group. Our commitment to you is that we will come out on the other side a stronger team and better trained team.  This time is allowing us to
receive continuing education, time to develop the organizational health of our team, and
especially pay close attention to the infection control concerns with this virus.  Safety is on top of
our minds and our promise is we will be intentional about understanding the infection control
needs this virus presents and make sure to add these best practices to our already stringent
infection control parameters.

Thank you for your understanding during this time. We are all in this together!

Sincerely,
Dr. Anne Eunson

COVID-19 Update

3/16/2020

Dear Friends and Families,

Here at Eunson Dental, the safety and health of our patients and staff is top priority. As a health care provider, we are monitoring the coronavirus (COVID-19) developments especially closely. Based on the information from state and local government entities and related health services, we have closed the office for patient care for the next two weeks. At that point, as the situation evolves, we will reassess the plan going forward.

Our administrative team will be answering patient calls from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each weekday. You can reach us by phone or text at (610) 558-1977 or by email at Smiles@EunsonDental.com with any questions or emergent needs.

We plan to reschedule restorative appointments (crown, bridge, implants, fillings, etc.) as soon as possible. Hygiene appointments will be rescheduled once we finalize the plan for reopening the office and expanding our hours. We expect to have more information on this by the end of this week – please check our website, www.EunsonDental.com, for any updates.

We appreciate your patience and help through this unprecedented time. Hopefully you find fun and creative ways to spend time with your families. Stay safe and healthy by taking these two important steps: Wash your hands thoroughly and frequently, and keep your mouth and teeth healthy by brushing and flossing!

Together in health,
Anne Eunson, DMD

Happy March

3/9/2020

Happy March - spring is near!  Please read below for team and office updates.

I’m sure we’ve all heard by now about the flu and corona virus in the news.  The spread should subside with warmer weather, similar to flu outbreaks in years past. Please let us know as soon as possible if you have traveled outside of the U.S. within three weeks of your scheduled appointment. The best way to stay healthy is to have proper hand washing and to avoid touching your hands to your face while you are out and about. Click here to review the CDC hand washing recommendations.  We continue to maintain our strict office sterilization procedures and have added other simple steps such as wiping door handles and phones more frequently.  While the risk is low, we want to do our part to help keep everyone well.

We have several good news items regarding our team. First, I am thrilled to report that if have now completed my breast cancer treatment: I rang the bell at radiation 2 weeks ago! My doctors will continue to monitor me to ensure my progress continues without complications, but as of this writing my surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation are complete and there is no evidence of disease! My prognosis is excellent and I am so very thankful.

Second, Dr. Tewari is pregnant and due to have a baby girl in May! She has been a tremendous help here at Eunson Dental, and we have received uncounted accolades about the great care she provides our patients. We wish her and her family all the best in the future.

Finally, Lucy recently joined our team. She brings a sparkling personality, and she has front desk skills and extensive dental assisting experience. She is learning our systems and looks forward to meeting each of you.

In an effort to make scheduling easier and more convenient, online scheduling is now available! Check it out at http://www.EunsonDental.com and select “Schedule Appointment” from the menu. You will need to indicate whether you are a new or returning patient, then follow the prompts. This service allows you to schedule an appointment at your convenience, day or night. Be sure to complete all information requested.

If you have any changes in insurance coverage, please let us know as soon as possible. This helps us to see you promptly when you arrive for your appointment, and also reduce any confusion about your coverage before you arrive.

If you or someone you know does not have any dental insurance, our dental savings plan provides a great alternative. Many of our patients choose this option and find it reasonable compared to other plans on the market. Less than a dollar a day covers preventative care and entitles you to discounts on all other treatments, including restorative, implant, and cosmetic services. Learn more at http://www.EunsonDental.com/savings-plan.html.

Again, I want to express again my gratitude for all of the understanding and support I’ve received from our Eunson Dental community over the past year. It made a tremendous difference knowing I was in so many of your thoughts and prayers. Your compassion for me and my staff was noticed and very much appreciated.

Sincerely,
Anne Eunson, DMD

Happy Thanksgiving!

11/26/2019

As we enter the holiday season and approach the end of the year, I want to thank you for your ongoing support and wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving!

It’s been quite a year here at Eunson Dental! Kudos to our staff for their flexibility, patience, and never-ending dedication to the well-being of our patients. They have been a great source of strength and resourcefulness to me as I navigated my health issues while trying to ensure our patients continued to receive the highest quality dental care possible.

I am pleased to report that I am doing very well. I have just two chemotherapy treatments left, and I have been back at work since September. I’m also pleased to report that Dr. Tewari has agreed to stay on into next year.  We’re grateful to have her continue patient care.

One of the reasons for that busyness is the end-of-year deadline for dental insurance and medical flexible spending account benefits, those use-it-or-lose-it benefits. Many of you have or will be scheduling appointments for dental care before your 2019 benefits lapse. If for any reason you are unable to keep a scheduled appointment, please give us as much advance notice as possible (at least 2 business days or more). We are trying to accommodate everyone’s end-of-year request for services, and someone who is waiting for an appointment can receive care should you need to cancel/reschedule your appointment.

We also ask that should you come down with a cold, the flu, or other contagious illnesses when you are scheduled to come in, please call and reschedule your appointment. Some who visit or work here – myself included – are immunocompromised and have an increased susceptibility to catching viruses and more difficulty recovering from them. Help everyone play it safe if you are sick – please reschedule!

So that our staff can spend some Thanksgiving holiday time with family and friends, we will be out of the office starting Wednesday, Nov. 27, through Sunday, Dec. 1. Our office will reopen on Monday, Dec. 2.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving! And, thank you again for your support, kindness, and care.

Sincerely,
Anne Eunson

Use It or Lose It - Don't miss out!

9/24/2019

Don't forget, it’s that time of year – insurance use-it-or-lose-it season. Are you eligible for an additional cleaning and checkup?  Do you have remaining restorative dental care such as a crown, bridge or implant?  Many of you have dental benefits – including flexible spending accounts – that will expire at the end of the year. As a result, this becomes the busiest time of year for us, as patients schedule appointments before their benefits expire. Here are some tips for maximizing those end-of-year benefits:
  • Schedule it now! The closer we get to the end of the year, the fewer appointments will be available.
  • Finish it up! Schedule now to complete any needed treatments or unfinished dental work. Don’t put it off – your benefits will expire soon.
  • Smile brightly during the holidays! Scheduling your hygiene appointment before the holiday season will help you smile confidently while decking the halls, entertaining guests, and posing for those family photos.
Give us a call now so we can schedule your fall appointment!!

Be sure to check out our Facebook page starting next Monday, September 30th, to participate in our 5 Day Fall Giveaway!!

Dr. Eunson Update

9/12/2019

Let me start by thanking everyone for their thoughts, prayers, cards, flowers, care packages, meals, and more while I was out of the office for my surgery. Your support was felt and very much appreciated by both me and my team. We are truly blessed to be part of such a caring, supportive community.

I am pleased to report that the surgery went exceptionally well, and my recovery has been smooth. In fact, I feel so well that I have returned to the office sooner than expected to work part time while I receive follow-up treatment.

I am also pleased to announce that Dr. Tewari will be staying on through my treatment phase, which will last about six months. Dr. Tewari has quickly gained the confidence of our team in her short time here, and our patients have reported very positive experiences with her. She has been a great addition to our team, and we are glad she will stay on.

This means that moving forward, we expect to have a dentist present for most of our hygiene appointments. Should one of us be unavailable for any particular appointments, patients will be notified in advance if at all possible.

As summer lapses into fall, we are reminded that cold and flu season will be upon us soon. If you are not feeling well for a scheduled appointment, please call and reschedule. This will help protect fellow patients and our staff from being exposed to illnesses that can adversely affect their lives and their work and that pose a serious risk to those who are immunocompromised – myself included. If you’re not sure whether or not you should reschedule due to an illness, please contact us so we can discuss it.

As a reminder, please keep your appointments or give us sufficient notice if a change is needed. Doing so allows us to provide the best services for all of our patients. We understand that our patients lead busy lives, and we try to be as accommodating as possible with our scheduling. (For example, our expanded early-morning office hours benefit patients who prefer to have their dental services before heading to work.) Almost daily we get requests for same-day or next-day appointments, and giving us sufficient notice of your cancellation or reschedule request allows us to accommodate another’s needs. Your thoughtfulness in this matter is, as always, greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your continued support of Eunson Dental!

Sincerely,
Dr. Anne Eunson

Welcome Dr. Shruti Tewari

8/1/2019

Dear Eunson Dental patients,

I want to let you know about some possible appointment changes that will begin in early August that may affect your next office visit.

While my prognosis is excellent, I recently was diagnosed with breast cancer. I am having surgery on Aug. 8 (my last day in the office will be Aug. 7), and the recovery will take an estimated six weeks.

During my absence, a trusted colleague and excellent dentist will be here to care for you on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.  You can read about Dr. Shruti Tewari here. www.eunsondental.com/our-friendly-team.html  I am so grateful to have her here caring for patients in my absence knowing patients will be so well cared for during this time.

In addition to Dr. Tewari, several other local dentists and specialists are stepping up to help if needed. We are very blessed to be part of a network of caring professionals who are willing to help each other during such times; should you have an urgent dental need, please call our office for guidance and best care options.

Routine dental care (hygiene) visits are crucial to good dental health, and we don’t want them to be interrupted or delayed. Additionally, we acknowledge that our patients’ schedules are complex, and changing a scheduled appointment can be a hassle. It is our goal to keep as many routine hygiene appointments as possible that already are on the calendar during this timeframe.

If you have an upcoming dental visit scheduled, please keep your appointment unless we contact you to reschedule. Our trained, professional staff members will be here to serve you even in my absence. If you need to reschedule for your own reasons, please give enough notice so that we can fill your slot with another patient who may be waiting for an appointment.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our office – our staff will be happy to assist you!

Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding during this time. You will be in good hands for the few weeks I will be out of the office!

Sincerely,
Dr. Anne Eunson
