World No Tobacco Day is approaching and we’d like to remind our patients and friends that if you, or someone you know, has planned to quittobacco… we support you! And so does the rest of the world! World No Tobacco Day is a global public health campaign, held on May 31, every year, and sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO).
The campaign is about more than just quitting... Every year, the WHO decides on a theme for their messages; This year, they focus on the effects of illicit tobaccotrading. Effects of tobacco consumption are far-reaching, and have lots of adverse side effects that damage cultures, environments, and healthy living. We all know that smoking causes bad breath & tooth staining. But using any kind of tobacco also leads to periodontal disease and bone loss by decreasing blood flow. These problems are only the tip of the iceberg.
